Privacy policy

Mirava is built so stores can offer virtual try-on without collecting more about their shoppers than the try-on needs.

Last updated October 17, 2026

The short version

  • Shopper photos and try-on results are deleted within 24 hours.
  • Photos are never used to train AI models.
  • Location data (EXIF, including GPS) is removed in the shopper's browser before a photo is sent.
  • Mirava does not store shopper names or email addresses.
  • We process Shopify's privacy webhooks (customer data requests, customer redaction and shop redaction) automatically.

Who we are

Mirava: AI Virtual Try-On ("Mirava", "we") is a Shopify app operated by Bony Ecommerce. This policy explains what information the app processes when a merchant installs it and when shoppers use the try-on on a merchant's store. For shopper data, the merchant is the controller and Mirava acts as a processor on the merchant's behalf.

Information about merchants

When you install Mirava, Shopify gives the app access to:

  • Your store's domain and the access token Shopify issues to the app.
  • Product data (titles, types, tags and images) needed to show and create try-ons.
  • Your plan and billing status through Shopify App Pricing. Payment details stay with Shopify.
  • The settings you choose in the app, such as limits, budget, widget design and models you upload.

Information about shoppers

Photos and try-on results

A shopper can upload a photo after agreeing to the consent text in the try-on window. The photo is reduced in size and re-encoded in the browser, which removes EXIF metadata, then sent to Mirava. It is used only to create that shopper's try-on and is deleted, together with the result, within 24 hours. A shopper can reuse their photo for another product during that time; the original deadline still applies.

Photo screening

Before a try-on is created, an AI model checks that the photo shows one adult person and no unsuitable content. Photos that fail the check are rejected and not stored.

Usage and attribution

  • A random visitor ID kept in the shopper's browser storage, so daily limits and the holdout test work.
  • The shopper's Shopify customer ID when they are signed in, as provided by Shopify.
  • Events such as "saw the button", "opened try-on" and "saw the result", used for the merchant's analytics.
  • For orders that include a tried-on product: the order ID and number, totals, the revenue from tried-on products and refunds, used to report revenue and returns. No customer names, emails or addresses from orders are stored.

Email for bonus try-ons

If a merchant turns on bonus try-ons, a shopper can enter an email address to get more try-ons. The address is sent to the merchant's Shopify store as a customer subscribed to email marketing. Mirava does not keep a copy.

Service providers

We use a small number of providers to run the app:

  • AI image generation and photo screening, through an AI gateway. Photos are sent only to create or screen the try-on.
  • Cloud hosting for the app, its database and the temporary photo storage.
  • Shopify, for authentication, billing and webhooks.

Retention and deletion

  • Shopper photos and try-on images: deleted within 24 hours.
  • Try-on records without images, analytics events and attributed orders: kept while the app is installed, for the merchant's reports.
  • When a store uninstalls, Shopify sends a shop redaction request after 48 hours and we delete all of that store's data.
  • Customer redaction requests delete that customer's try-on data.

Your rights

Shoppers should contact the store where they used the try-on; the merchant can request their data or deletion through Shopify, and we act on those requests automatically. Merchants and shoppers can also contact us at privacy@miravatryon.com. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA to access, correct or delete your data, and to complain to a data protection authority.
